The perfect game would be an MMO(RPG) with two factions, one that plays like Warhammer and WoW, et al, and the other that plays like PlanetSide and Battlefield, et al. I thought about a third faction that played like Unreal, but the third faction was a horrible drawback in PlanetSide, so no.
There would be great PvE, like EverQuest 2, and great PvP, like Warhammer and DAoC. To take a PvP objective, you MUST PvP — no empty keep takes or ghost hacks. If a base was undefended, you’d have to take out static NPC defenses then wait for PC defenders before you could take the base; like knock on the door and wait for someone to answer. Maybe the best way to do this is to instance all bases. And battlegrounds should all be game-wide rather than server pools so that people can get into them faster.
Well, I thought I had more to say on the subject, but I guess not — so really, it shouldn’t be that hard to make a game where you can truly do what you want when you want. So you’re not forced to do dungeon crawls or PvP for the best gear if you don’t want to. So that the “end-game” isn’t something so different from the rest of the game. Something where different levels can play together and not be overpowered. A game where mirror classes truly mirror each other or at least have equal benefits and drawbacks.

I’m just tired of progressing through an MMO to level up to play with friends and then hating the “end-game,” and the huge problems with class balance — should it really be so difficult?

yeah, i totally agree with you. the endgame actually ruins MMO’s for me. seems like you bust your ass for months, but for what? you hit the last level, and it’s like starting over at one again most of the time. with all the progression you got to do, and everyone whoopin on you, and needing to have groups because almost nothing is solo-able.

Ya know, with some further thought — the two completely different factions wouldn’t work because the weapons can strike at distance, and WoW fighting is very much melee, so scratch that.
A really great PlanetSide 2 would be awesome, but I know I’m not the only one thinking this very thing. Sony just won’t bite.
There is a game called Section 8 coming out soon. Check it out at http://www.joinsection8.com
out.

oh, and there’s this gameplay movie for Section 8, which seems a bit wanting. Action seems plodding, which is fine if it’s strategic, but this is basically a Team Deathmatch game that’s featured.
