I stopped playing World of Warcraft some time ago, after maxing out to level 70.  When I started playing again, after a time away, it was at the urging of my Sister-in-Law and her husband who had created a guild.  They were already level 70, so I pushed to catch up, and the most fun was chatting with everyone rather than playing together — in WoW it’s bad for a high-level to group with lower levels because the lower levels do not receive enough points when working together — that is, that the higher level player contributes so much to the fighting that it wouldn’t be fair for the lowbie to get the same points.

The 401(k) scare

Do not be afraid.

Supposed “news” items on the internet regarding a recent hearing in Washington have been scaring everyone by saying that the government — most likely implicating the upcoming new Obama government — wants to liquidate your 401(k) and roll it into Social Security.  If you look closely enough at these news items you’ll see that they’re not news reports but blogs. Most of them are pretty fancy, leading you to believe that they’re reliable, but they’re just blogs like this one, espousing a personal opinion.

NaNoWriMo, et al.

NaNoWriMo is the “official” abbreviation for National Novel Writing Month, which is November. Considering this is Nov. 2nd, it might be too late for some of us to get the target 50,000 words by November 30th. I think it’s a good idea, and might do it next year, though that seems to always be my thing: next year, next month, whatever.
