The rich are not patriotic

In the wake of WaMu’s collapse and subsequent sale to JP Morgan, 10% of employees may lose their jobs and some back pay too, but at least the former CEOs of WaMu, Kerry Killinger and Alan Fishman will probably have enough money to struggle along until their next “job.”  Killinger received 98 million before he was fired three weeks ago, and Fishman, on the job less than three weeks got nearly 20 million.

Guard thy Cookies!

CookieMonster is a new hacker tool used to get your personal information from cookies stored on your computer, whether you’re visiting those sites or not.  Developed by Mike Perry.

If the hype is true, then Perry is just a hacker tard, though he seems to be claiming that he’s making the internet safer.  Sounds hypocritical to me.  It’s the same tired excuse used by hackers for years now, and it’s getting really old. Hey, here’s an idea: since we know who he is, how about Homeland Security arresting him?

Hell Week

The week of Sept 15, 2008 was pretty bad for a lot a people.

The US stock market went crazy, finally driving home the idea that our economy sucks to people who’ve been telling us otherwise (Republicans). Common knowledge says we’ve been in a recession, but economists who do this stuff for a living say otherwise because the technical definition of a recession hasn’t been reached (yet).  Maybe they need to change how they define recession, or we need to come up with a different term for what we’ve been experiencing.

Credit (shoots and) Scores!

Credit card companies are evil.  We should all know this.  They’re basically juice loans with interest rates nearing 30%.  There’s terms of APR — annual percentage rate — and if you’ve ever received terms of a new credit card, you may not have read it because it’s in tiny print and 20 pages long.  Basically what it says is pay down your credit card debt as fast as you can or else you will be very, very sorry.

The Bush Doctrine vs Pakistan

Sarah Palin wasn’t sure what the Bush Doctrine was, so she couldn’t agree or disagree with it, and then when she did expand on her answer, she didn’t agree with McCain. Republicans and McCain himself will surely claim that she did understand the policy in question, and that we’re all misreading her evasiveness incorrectly. Maybe she was just running the standard politician scam of running circles around the question in order to avoid it completely.

Uppity

On Sept. 4th, Rep. Lynn Westmoreland of Grantville, Ga, talking to reporters, called the Obama’s “uppity,” and then the accusations came flying that he was using it as a racial epithet.  I was raised in suburban Chicago, and always heard the word used as a synonym for conceited, so I assumed this was just paranoid fantasy, but

Pakistan protests ‘coalition air attack’

Pakistan appears more and more to be harboring Osama Bin Laden.  They don’t want us looking for him in the mountains, and they won’t let us launch offensives inside their borders.  Now they’re protesting our attacking terrorists because we may have stepped over the border by who-knows-how-little:

Heeeeyy Charlie

So one day during a walk my daughter starts telling me about this video “Charlie the Unicorn Goes to Candy Mountain,” and I didn’t believe her because it sounded so ridiculous.  Of course it does actually exist, but in all fairness to me, in her story she included part two, which is even more ridiculous than part one:

and just so we’re clear: I did not create this video
